Hanami — A Pre-Festive Launch by Ocean Home
A collection born from colour, flowers and the joy of making by hand.
When I started imagining Hanami, I wasn't thinking about creating another festive collection. I was thinking about that beautiful time just before the festivities begin — when the air starts to change, homes slowly come alive, and there is a quiet excitement about what is coming.
I wanted Hanami to feel like that moment.
Not loud. Not overly festive. Just fresh, joyful and full of life.
It Started with Colour

For me, colour always comes before everything else.
With Hanami, I found myself drawn towards fresh greens, soft blues, deep indigos and warm earthy neutrals. Colours that reminded me of gardens after rain, changing skies and flowers appearing unexpectedly amongst leaves.
I wanted the colours to work together without feeling too coordinated — much like nature itself.
Then Came the Flowers

The florals in Hanami are intentionally free and expressive.
There is a certain beauty in a flower drawn by hand and then translated onto a wooden block. It loses the perfection of a digital line, but gains something much more important — character.
And once the block reaches the fabric, another transformation happens.
Every impression carries the movement of the hand that printed it. A little more colour here, a softer impression there, a tiny shift between two motifs.
I love these differences.
They remind us that someone actually stood at a printing table and created the fabric, one block at a time.
That human touch became the soul of Hanami.
Beyond the Bed
I never wanted Hanami to exist only as a bed sheet or a quilt.
The idea was to create a small world around the print — bedding layered with embroidery and quilting, cushions and bolsters that don't perfectly match but somehow belong together.
And then to let Hanami travel beyond the bedroom.
We turned the same fabrics into quilted pouches, travel organizers, embroidered laptop sleeves and handmade notebooks.
I particularly love seeing these smaller pieces come together. They make Hanami feel less like a collection and more like something you can carry with you.
A Beginning to the Festive Season
Hanami, for me, is about finding celebration in simpler things.
A beautiful colour. A hand-carved block. The irregularity of a handmade print. A flower that doesn't need to be perfect.
It is our little beginning to the festive season.
I hope when Hanami enters your home, it brings with it some of the same joy we felt while creating it.
